Disappointment all around.

Well Bubba's egg's were all infertile. I think Thommo is just a wee bit over the age for breeding but the little darling has been more diligent with sitting on those eggs than mummy bubba. Oh well.

And that was that batch of eggs, They were taken away from them about the time they should have hatched and suprisingly they seem relieved.
That little bubba has the worst attention span through the day and really is that serious, maybe she knew that they weren't fertile .

To my surprise she layed another 4 eggs about 2 weeks after. I really should have taken the nesting boxes out but huge arguments would erupt because I have another 2 lovie dovies trying to get it on, So as not to upset the apple cart I have chosen to leave the nesting boxes in for a little while just to see .
The newest pairing is Bernie another oldy that is as randy as they come and his newest girlfriend that has been fighting not going into that nesting box for the last month.
She may have admitted defeat . Let's just wait and see.

New Babies to come

Its been a while since I wrote this web page and its been moved over from freewebs to blogger.
I still have the cockatiels and still love them dearly.

I thought a couple of weeks ago now that Bubba is 11 years old and Bernie is about 15 years old now it was time to have one last breeding session. My husband made 2 nesting boxes for me , much to his disgust, but anyway Bubba layed her first egg today or maybe yesterday.

Today is the 14th August, 2014 and she is 11 years old. Her boyfriend is still the original chap and his name is Tommo. He was an old bird when he flew into mum and dads neighbours place, he was apparently someone's very special pet and was so gentle and friendly. So mum called us and we gave him a good home with a very loyal wife might I add.

Now Bubba has a little problem she can't stand feathers on her tummy so she plucks them out but the only thing is she plucks her husband feathers around his neck as well. God only knows why, but she seems healthy and happy and well enough. She even plucked her first lot of babies feathers out at three weeks of age. Its like she has an obsessive compulsive feather problem. I will be keeping a close eye on her this time and hopefully she has outgrown that behaviour.

So when I post photo's of her don't think she is neglected please is just her personal preference of going around naked. hahahahh
